10-man Germany including 96-defender Per Mertesacker beat Mexico 4-3 to take third place in the Confederations' Cup and delighted coach Jürgen Klinsmann in the process.

Germany had striker Mike Hanke sent off after 54 minutes, but triumphed when Michael Ballack netted a spectacular free-kick seven minutes into extra-time.

Goals from Lukas Podolski, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Robert Huth were cancelled by replies from Jose Fonseca and Jared Borgetti.

The DFB has announced the fixtures of the upcoming Bundesliga season 2005/2006. The exact schedule will be posted soon. As always the schedule depends on the international match calendar.

The Reds will be playing the first match of the season against Hertha BSC Berlin on August 6th/7th at the AWD-Arena.

The 20-year-old is widely considered Germany's biggest talent in a traditionally strong defensive line.

Last October, the tall defender earned his first cap under Jurgen Klinsmann and he has played in all three matches of the Confederations Cup thus far.

Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen are among the teams that have most recently tried to lure Mertesacker away from Hannover, where he has a contract until 2008.

The intelligent centre back however, is keen on a swap to the Premier League.

'It is a dream for every football player to play in England', Mertesacker said after a strong showing in Germany's 2-2 draw with Argentina.

"Premiership football is very tough, very hard and very good. It is the best league in Europe."

Asked whether he wanted to play in England one day, he replied: "Arsenal are my favourite team - perhaps. I have often talked to Jens Lehmann. Time will tell."

Mertesacker also described his meteoric rise to stardom as "hard to believe".

"Everything has happened very fast for me," he said.

"I need to stay realistic but it's amazing that I'm in the running for a spot in the World Cup team."

Hannover 96 takes part of a pre-season Friendly Game against Stoke City from the First Division of England in Ilten at the Wahrendorf Arena on Saturday, July 23, kick-off 5.30pm (CET). The "Potters" have finished their last season on the 12th in the table.

The 21 year old Bulgarian midfielder, who is coming from Slavia Sofia, has signed a contract for one year (on a loan) with Hannover 96.

Yankov had eleven international appereances for Bulgaria and has scored two goals.

The 30 year old German forward, who is coming from Vfl Wolfsburg, has signed a contract for three years with Hannover 96.

The German international who was 1 year ago on Hannover's payrole has just played one season at Wolfsburg. Now he is back home again!

Although Hannover got less cautions then Mainz, Jürgen Klopp's team got the wildcard for the UEFA-Cup and finally has been drawn.
